Sky Dreams story

Sky Dreams LLC took flight as an online retailer in July 2009. After 30 years in the banking industry, Angie Higa decided to retire at age 48 to become a full time Grandma during her daughters military deployment to Afghanistan.  

Within six months of retiring, Angie rekindled her passion for sewing when she realized there was a need for travel blankets and pillows when the airlines stopped providing these comfort items during air travel. 

As frequent traveler who often travels with grandchildren in tow, she knew there needed to be certain elements to make the perfect travel blanket and pillow.  The design needed to be compact, convenient and comfortable which Angie dubbed the "3 C's of travel." 

After several failed prototypes and countless yards of fabric wasted, she came across a blanket her mother made 35 years ago.   She instantly knew with just a few design changes, this could be the perfect travel blanket.  With a little ingenuity by turning the pocket upside down, add a strap, and size it perfectly that allowed the blanket to fold into the bag and fit a neck pillow, the Sky Dreams travel blanket was born.  

What is the Sky Dreams travel blanket?  It's a 40" x 58" blanket that conveniently folds into a bag and nestled in the pocket of the bag is a matching neck pillow.  Angie quickly learned from her customers that Sky Dreams travel blanket was not only used for air travel.  Her customer's said it was the perfect blanket and pillow combo used on road trips, watching movies in the theater and busy Mom's loved the compact and fashionable way to carry a blanket and pillow for their baby. And a great nursing cover up too. The most notable additional use for the Sky Dreams travel blanket was when a customer mentioned her mother uses it during her chemotherapy treatments.  Angie now designs with versatility in mind. 

Sky Dreams LLC is your one stop shop for everything travel related.  From travel blankets to travel accessories, travel totes and more.  Each design is authentically designed and made in Hawai'i by Angie.

Angie's unique design aesthetic enabled her to expand her line of travel blankets to travel accessories, shopping totes and purses. Her products were featured in several local magazines and newspaper articles.  She was featured as a local designer in Hawaiian Airlines Duty Free International Catalog for 2 years selling an exclusive travel tote.

January 2016, she launched the "Aloha Collection by Sky Dreams LLC."  A collection of island and beach inspired tote bags, clutches and accessories.  Each design captures the beauty of the islands and allows her customers to share the "Aloha Spirit" in each design she creates from her atelier in Mililani, Hawai'i.

March 22, 2020 the Sky Dreams Giving back project was started. Angie shifted her focus and began sewing and giving away FREE face mask during the pandemic and used her own inventory of fabric and supplies to meet that need. Since the sewing community was sewing face mask for Health professionals and First Responders, Angie focused her efforts on the community with a focus on essential workers, those with compromised immune systems and our Kupuna (elderly).  As of December 29, 2020, over 2,700 FREE face mask were given out.
